“The End of the Beginning (The Beginning of the End, Pt. 3)” — Optimized Summary
The New Mutants hear intense combat inside the Danger Room. Rushing in, they discover a lethal stranger tearing through the facility. None recognize the warrior, and a fierce battle erupts. Cable ultimately subdues him.
In the infirmary, the stranger introduces himself as Shatterstar, a time-traveler seeking the X-Men’s aid against Mojo and Spiral. Before the team can process this, a squad of Imperial Protectorates attacks to eliminate Shatterstar—only to be swiftly wiped out.
Later, Boom-Boom heads to the kitchen and finds Feral scavenging food. A fight breaks out until the rest of the team arrives. Feral reveals she’s fleeing Masque and his Morlocks, who want to ignite a war with the surface world—something she refuses to be part of. When Cable kills Brute, Masque and Hump retreat, understanding the message.
After regrouping, Cable calls a meeting. Everyone acknowledges they’re no longer safe in their current base. Shatterstar, Warpath, and Feral agree to join the team in exchange for protection and support. The group decides to leave the bunker and forge a new path.
Meanwhile, Stryfe returns to command the Mutant Liberation Front, sending operatives out to escalate the conflict. He contemplates the slow-moving war, removes his helmet… and is revealed to be Cable’s exact double.
